Trug Love

Hi Everyone
Happy Friday

{Love}
English  trugs

I found this large trug in France and
I use it every day
great for holding fresh picked flowers or vegetables from the garden
It really is the perfect shape
I found the baby trug in Texas

It is the cutest trug
Wish I had found it when my daughter was little
so we could have used them together

Trugs are originally made in England and
the design is over 200 years old
I know why it has been so popular
for so long
it is  light weight and easy to carry
and cute too

Here are the two trugs
together on my
garden table
and take a look at my sweet peas too
I have been babying my
sweet peas

I can't believe how amazing they smell
and how beautiful they look in the garden

It is so wonderful to get
 close to nature
Wonderful to hear the birds singing, the buzz of the bees
and the hummingbirds too

What a Blessing
to feel the sun on my shoulders and to pull out some weeds
good for the soul
~grateful~

Romantic Prairie Style

Hi Everyone

Happy Thursday

I have been  so frustrated with blogspot
I have not been able to get a thumbnail picture
to show up on other peoples blogroll
I have tried everything but I have not been successful...
I was editing in the old editor and was told to try the new editor so this is a test
keeping my fingers crossed
sorry for my rant I am determined to figure this out
any help would be amazing
Most of you know the amazing
FiFi
who just came out with her fabulous new book
Romantic Prairie Style

Amazon has a review of the book and it was so unflattering
I am in shock every picture in this book is gorgeous
Please go to Fifi's blog and let her know how much we
{LOVE}
the book and the fabulous pictures too
http://fabulousfifi.typepad.com/chez_fifi/

I have been whitening some vintage lace pieces
The best way I have found is to use Biz granules and hot water
I let it sit in the sun for a day and then hand wash and hang dry

I like it to be as~ white~ as possible
This piece is my favorite
{love}
all the flowery intricate details

What do you use to whiten vintage lace?

Vintage shopping Test #3

Hi Everyone

Happy Wednesday

Are you ready to test your
{ vintage}
shopping skills again today?

I found this Victorian glass treasure in
France

It has two separate pieces
A tall cylinder and a 3 cup holder
The 3 cup holder goes onto the cylinder and
spins around

I was told this held
3 popular spices
for the table

What do you think this is?

What were those 3 spices ?

If you guessed salt, pepper and mustard
You are right!!
Its a condiment holder

How did you do?

Cottage Filigree

Hi Everyone

Happy Tuesday

{Love}

the
White
Filigree in this doorway

and the white filigree on this mirror

I added a little white filigree to this mirror

and above the stove

This was my Grandmothers mirror
It was gold and I recently painted it white
{Love}
the filigree detail
I looked up the definition of filigree
it means....
delicate and intricate ornamentation
It is fun to add a little filigree
like adding lace to a dress
so feminine and romantic
another { cottage } element

Collecting White Ironstone

Hi Everyone

Happy Weekend

What do You collect?

I was recently asked why I collect
White Ironstone

I have been passionately collecting it for three decades
When I find a new piece I still get that little thrill of the hunt
{Love}
its timeless charm
{Love}
that each piece has its own creamy white shade
{Love}
the history and the durability

Vintage White Ironstone is so
versatile it goes with every decor
it holds its value from year to year and never goes out of style

Yesterday was
a fun day
I had special guests at the house
it was wonderful to dress
the
home
up with some beautiful flowers

This is my favorite vintage white ironstone pitcher
looking beautiful with
roses and hydrangeas

Love
the look of
vintage white ironstone
in my kitchen

Roses were at the door greeting the guests hanging in a old jar

Roses in a white enamelware pitcher

Kitchen Marble

Hi Everyone

Happy Wednesday

When we bought this house
I wanted to put in
marble counter tops
But the budget was limited so I went with simple white tile instead
now I am grateful
{ Love }
the tile and I get the best of both worlds with
marble pieces like this lovely lazy susan and mortar and pestle
{which always reminds me of Julia Child}

This large lazy susan sits in the middle of the counter
always looking pretty
I use it everyday

White and Grey
marble or Carrera marble
has an old world timeless charm

Painted White Floor

Hi Everyone

Happy Monday

Yesterday was the first day of Spring
and it was a busy day at our home
Over the past week I decided to remove the old ugly carpet in the bedroom
after looking at pictures like these...

Painted white floors
look so calm and serene even
with different colors on the walls
{Love}
both the soft green and the pale blue

via country living
Such beautiful inspiration
So over the weekend my
wonderful, amazing handsome Husband
Yes I LOVE this man....
painted the floors in our bedroom
white

via white ironstone cottage
It turned out beautiful
so clean & serene
and even better than
expected

This is the bed we have had since we got married

Yes that is another leather chair
My Husbands favorite
so grateful to finally have white floors in the
bedroom
all I need now are some flowers.....
and a few candles too

These pink roses are such a pretty color
they even match the pink rose plates that we used for

yummy

Flowers in the kitchen
add a little romance
Do you place flowers in the same place all the time?
