Blooming Hydrangeas

Hi Everyone
 Happy Friday
They are blooming !!!
The hydrangeas in the front garden have decided to bloom
 for Mother's day
{Love}
the color's this year
They are blooming so early
 this is such a treat!!!
Do you remember the brick border that I made
 using the bricks our neighbors were going to throw away?
It is wavy, uneven and looks like
 it has been there forever
perfect!!
Do you have a favorite
color hydrangea?
This pink is beautiful
Here is the secret trick I use here  in California to get the different colors to bloom
I put small nails in the soil near the base of the hydrangea
{be careful not to hurt the roots}
the iron in the nails helps to turn the hydrangeas purple and blue
 Can't wait to cut a few hydrangeas
 to bring inside for the weekend
romantic saying for today
"Paradise itself was dim and joyless if not shared with him"

  3. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower on Earth. Yours are simply splendid, and I know how much you will enjoy them throughout the summer. California is so much kinder for growing flowers than Texas. Come on over and enter my jewelry giveaway, please....

  4. Pam, your hydrangeas are lovely! The booms are huge! I have tons of blooms, but they are all tiny. I will probably post photos of them next week.

    Have a blessed Mother's Day!

  5. Oh, they are beautiful! My parents had one in the yard where I grew up. My dad would change the colors by using lime. I really wish I could grown them here in South Florida but they don't seem to like the heat or our sandy soil or something. I love all the colors.

  7. Stunning, Pam! Look at the size of those flower heads! I've got my heart set on getting a few pink ones. Maybe this weekend. I had several blue at our old house and I'd love the pink.

    Happy Mother's Day!

  10. WOW - your blooms are amazing!

    Didn't know that about nails - nice to know, as my soil Ph always wants to turn them pink and I like them blue.

    I use used tea leaves and coffee grounds around the base, too - and mulch around it with fallen pine needles - all helps make the soil more acidic, helping turn them blue too.

    Have a truly wonderful weekend!

  11. Just beautiful hydrangeas. Our yardman was here yesterday and cut ours all the way back to the ground, Most were dead. I wonder how long the life is of an hydrangea? We're hoping what's left will come back or we'll have to replace them. I liked seeing yours. xo Jenny

  16. I too love hydrangeas but cant seem to get the secret to cutting them for inside! It seems hit or miss whether they last for ages or wilt after a few hours! What is your secret please? I have mostly white in the garden and deep maroon in pots. They are such a show aren't they/
