Shabby chic Mantel

Do you like to save pretty ribbon from packages

This past Christmas we received the most beautiful 

 white Rachel Ashwell  face towels

{Love} 

The towels were wrapped with this

pretty shabby chic white ribbon 

So happy I kept the ribbon it looks so cute  wrapped around this garden

 galvanized bucket 

Today while shopping at Trader Joes 

 I found these adorable baby pink potted roses for only 1.99 each

{such a bargain}

 I bought 3 and

 they fit perfectly in the bucket

I added a small sprig of pink jasmine

 from the garden

The baby pink  of the roses and the jasmine

 are so pretty together

last year I bought a few baby white roses and

after having them in the house for a month or two

we planted them in the front yard 

They transferred well from inside the house to outside

The jasmine smells heavenly
Handsome husband even commented
 he liked it !!!

White Bloomers

 Happy Friday

 We have been busy unpacking the

 vintage treasures 

we bought on our trip to the Midwest a few weeks ago

The trip was filled with
loads of amazing lacy new finds

like these adorable vintage shorty white bloomers

{Love}

 the row of ruffles

and cute long  pristine white bloomers

Just adore their lacy detail and pretty ribbon
  so delicate and feminine

Shopping for vintage is a lot like a box of chocolates 
You never know what you are going to get....

So excited to share with y'all  I am
 heading off to Texas for some more vintage shopping
at Round Top 
I am taking my camera and yes I am even going to wear my cowboy boots
  maybe even those shorty bloomers
I promise to get a few pics so you can all join in the shopping fun!!!
I am going to try and squeeze in a visit to  Rachel Ashwell's
Prairie too

Garden Walk

Hi Everyone

Happy Monday

This summer has been hot even here in San Diego

We have been lucky that many of our plants are surviving the heat

The front yard roses are doing well

 White Iceberg roses are quite drought tolerant

We were rationed for water and I was worried they would die but they actually did great

Here is the path to our little green house

to walk down and see the roses and the rest of the garden

in the morning

Found pretty pink Tiffany roses this morning showing off

This Tiffany rose smells even

more beautiful than it looks

White Kitchen Island

Hi Everyone

The kitchen island
it turned out better than expected

It was a difficult decision to paint over such beautiful wood

Here is a picture of the island when I first bought it
it was a steal at $50 dollars

I always liked its size and the detail

I sanded the wood with a light grade sand paper

than painted a light coat of "Kilz"

then started painting

I used Behr

 Ultra Pure White semi gloss enamel paint

The details really pop with the white paint

even Family agrees it looks great

Yippee

This looks and feels like home

Here it is at the sale

 so happy I changed my mind

Now that I have the paint out

I am in the mood to paint the floors in the dining room

fingers crossed it turns out as good

A question I would ask...
How does she juggle so many adventures at the same time
Mother, Writer, B&B Owner etc.
and make it all seem so easy
 I would love to know if she has a favorite piece of
~White Ironstone~

Rachel was kind and down to earth
I met her when her
last book came out
{Of coarse the battery for my camera was dead so no pictures!!!}
Rachel had a
Lovely accent and she wore an adorable long skirt and pretty slip-on high heel shoes
This surprised me
Most pictures of her she is wearing  casual jeans and cowboy boots
The one thing I remember most is she had a 
fabulous ruffled tablecloth
on the table
 and she had pinned six or seven
vintage rhinestone pins
on the edge of the tablecloth raising up the ruffle
It looked so pretty
and added that little extra Rachel touch.
