Coronado House remodel

So excited to share with you a few updates

 to the Coronado house remodel

As you can see 

the house is starting to look fabulous

The french doors going into the new bedroom/office space will have a transom window above the

 ten light french doors

{Love}

how this made the doors look taller and raised your eye to the ceiling

The newly raised ceilings in the dining room 

 living room as well as the entryway 

 all have this same pattern

can you just imagine beautiful chandeliers hanging right in the middle

in all three of the ceilings

 Opening up the stairway wall just made the entire house feel open

{Love} 

how the light is now moving up the stairs

before the stairway was very dark

The accordion doors open the entire length of the living room wall 

now this is a indoor outdoor living space

 which connects the house with the backyard pool

Do you see the new window

 in the back bedroom to the left

adding that window added more light not only

 to the bedroom but to 

the entire living room too 

The kitchen cabinets have been installed and we are trying to decide if we want to keep the original 

turquoise seat and table

mmm....

there will be a pantry in the back where the old laundry room used to be

 opening up the back wall and adding a window added so much light and space to the kitchen

Don't you just {Love} the ceilings 

 open shelves as well as a beautiful chandelier, Carrara marble counter tops and a farmhouse sink

wolf range and a sub zero glass door refrigerator

will give this kitchen charm and elegance

 The wolf range will go in

 between the two cabinets 

with tile going all the way up the back wall

 The white fireclay farmhouse sink

 will go below the window 

 The fireplace  in the living room

will have a brick

 surround and a massive mantel 

 We decided to keep the existing cabinets in the back bedroom 

and we added a window and window seat 

the view is of the backyard and the pool

We are also reusing the plantation closet doors 

They turned out great with just a coat of paint

{Love}

all the storage space 

{the cabinets have not been painted yet can you tell}

 The massive 6 foot tub is in place 

ready to start all of the tile work

This is one of my favorite views in the house

 we opened up the entry into the kitchen from the dining room

{Love}

how the space is so open and welcoming now

The house is turning out so beautiful

 every detail

Front door remodel

 Happy Monday

The Coronado remodel is starting to take shape

 now that most of the interior demo is complete
it is time to work on some of the outside demo

the new front door is ordered
The addition of

 a white dutch door

will be a big change from the existing solid
dark almost black green door with the metal screen door
and yes
the rock will be removed too
The rock seems to be a big topic for all of the neighbors

this is looking at the entrance to the house

 is very
 dark and unwelcoming
looking at the door from the inside of the house

Have you ever seen a door handle
 in the middle of the door
I was told this is a English  style door but
the brass design has a very oriental look
The green on the door looks pretty in this picture but
 it is actually a very dark green

 The new white dutch door from Home depot will 

will be airy and light

and will add a new welcoming feel
to the house

The upstairs bedroom will have french doors
 and a new balcony that overlooks the boats in
Glorietta bay
 and the beautiful and romantic
Hotel Del Coronado

The view is amazing
it is fun to visit Coronado every week to see the changes
That is all for the remodel update
this week electric and plumbing changes will be finished
Can't wait to show you the kitchen update next Monday

Growing Ivy Topiaries

 Hi Everyone

Our summer mantel

 is clean and simple

{Love} 

the combination of ivy topiaries and white inpatiens 

 I have had a {love} hate relationship with 

ivy topiaries 

I  would buy them and keep my fingers crossed

 that they would be happy , healthy

and grow
usually they would end up losing leaves turning yellow and
well ....you know the rest

 These two ivy topiaries
 are doing great we received them as a hostess gift last November

so grateful and surprised
they are doing well
 here are a few things we did to help them thrive and stay alive

We found fish emulsion at Home Depot   

 it is easy to use just add a few drops to the water  it really works
 The ivy has been
 healthy and is growing

They have very green pretty leaves

 and new growth

A regular schedule of watering has helped to prevent over watering 

{usually my problem}

as well as under watering
They can dry out very quickly especially in the summer

Be sure and place your ivy topiary

 where it will get some light but not in direct sun

this can burn the leaves
{guilty of this}

Rusty White Urn

Hi Everyone

 Happy Wednesday

{Love}

our  rusty white urns

The aged patina is beautiful

We bought these two urns about 2 years ago
 and put them both outside by our front door

Handsome Husband bought
 rustoleum rust inhibitor
 to protect them at Home Depot 
 I was very hesitant to use it 
I was afraid it would change the color of the urns like a paint
 and I really like a rusty vintage patina!!!!
so we decided to spray  just one as an experiment

This urn was not sprayed with the rust inhibitor

This urn was sprayed 

and two years later as you can see it really worked
♥
 The best part is

 the spray was clear so it did not change the color of the urn at all 

 and

the spray can be used when the urn gets that perfect white and rust patina

Handsome husband was right!!!

Grateful he sprayed our vintage  white wrought iron tree seat too

A Dreamy Fall

Hi Everyone

Happy Friday

It has been so *HOT* during the day that

it has been fun to get up very early while it is still a bit cooler

 to work in the garden

feels almost dreamy here in the mornings

Such a beautiful way to start the day
very quiet

 just the birds singing

Time seems to stand still in the garden

all the plants and flowers even seem to be just waking up

A  new Cecile brunner rose  from Home Depot will get planted today
This old garden rose is a climbing rose 

the vision is for it to grow right over the side of the green house

This year the seedlings in the greenhouse

 have sprouted early because of  all the intense heat so

the shade from the rose will help provide a little relief 

Cecile brunner roses smell so pretty

for such a tiny rose it has  the most amazingly  strong fragrance

A Peaceful dreamy fall morning in the garden
 Does it feel like fall to you yet?

Mothers Day Gifts

Hi Everyone

 Happy Wednesday

 Sunday is 

~Mother's day~

This table in our living room holds

 many of the gifts

  I have received for Mother's day over the years that I cherish

Family pictures that were put in pretty frames

{always a favorite gift} 

A glass starfish  from our Son who loves to look for shells and starfish 

on the beach 

and a glass heart from our Daughter who has the sweetest most beautiful  heart I know
The {Love} engraved rock 
my  husband gave me 
with a note that read
"Our Love is solid as a rock"

 The Vintage White Ironstone pitcher a gift from my husband
on  the very first Mothers day after our daughter was born

The White Iceberg roses  growing in the backyard
{can you can see them through the window?}
are a favorite gift for any occasion especially Mothers day!!!!!
{hint}
they have a great selection at Home Depot right now for 12.99

The pink cabbage roses growing in the yard are called
 Compte de Chombord
They were a Mother's day gift when we moved into this house
 they have grown more beautiful every year
Roses, family pictures and simple treasures
 all gifts from the heart

and to remind those  I
