Thanksgiving Mantel

  Hi Everyone
 Happy Friday
Gathering together for
 Thanksgiving
is a family affair in our home everyone pitches in
extended family joins us from all over the country
It is time to
get the house ready, polish the silver
get the recipe binder out
and start planning the menu

Thanksgiving is  about counting our many Blessings
gathering together with family and great food
{Love}
using old cherished family recipes that have been passed down
 from generation to generation

We all look forward to  Great Grandmothers walnut stuffing
 now made in her memory
as well as our daughters homemade tangy cranberry sauce made with oranges
a  yummy new addition to our menu

{Love}
catching up on each others lives
hearing everyones grateful's at the dinner table
watching football
playing cards
more food and most of all just being all together

The familiar delicious smells of turkey in the oven
and homemade pies
and the family walk on the beach after dinner
So much to be Grateful for

Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving this year too

  1. I love your mantel. It is what I call "simple elegance." It is perfect. And I especially love the oil lanterns - we collect (and actually use) them! The stuffing recipe sounds very rich...thank you for the reminder that before long, we will be busy with holiday - but a good busy. :-)

    Big hugs

  2. Beautiful mantel as always. I only do Thanksgiving every other year at my house, this way, my kids can have thanksgiving with their in-laws. This is NOT my year to do Thanksgiving so my husband and I will be having our little Thanksgiving in Gatlinburg, TN. This is will the second time we've gotten away and while we love having family come over and cooking, it is a nice little treat for just the 2 of us to get away.

I would love to have your grandmother's stuff recipe to try next year. ♥

  3. I adore Thanksgiving. I have all the family and friends in that our home can hold/ We exchange Christmas ornaments and work on puzzles. We play games and laugh all day long. I put up all my Christmas decorations because this is the only time we are all together and I just don't want to miss a thing.I guess we celebrate both holidays together. Dianntha

    1. Hi Betty
I was a flight attendant and was gone every holiday on Thanksgiving
I always decorated the hotel room with a few small candles
I would take a walk and pick up branches and pine cones or what ever was pretty
(a few flowers} I would just put them all over the hotel room
always made the room feel a little more like Home
Have you tried decorating your kitchen
it is the heart of every home
      Blessings
