French Ticking

 Hi Everyone
Happy Monday

Changing the material on our dining room chairs
has been on my to do list for a year
I was going to change the material when we bought
the set on Craig's list.
 for $100 dollars
Such a deal
But...I just can't seem to make up my mind
This material seems so bold and busy for the room
I have been looking at traditional
french ticking
material

~ blue and white ticking ~

~ french red and white ticking ~

~gray and white ticking~
~pink and white ticking~

Which one do you like?

This pitcher has a beautiful faceted pattern
that really catches the light

This glass pitcher is an usual shape with a ribbed base
{Love}
all three
Do you know which one is the
vintage glass pitcher

Here is one more look at all three together

This one is the vintage glass pitcher

Did you guess right?

This small vintage glass pitcher is worth more than the other 2 pitchers combined

When things were made years ago
they were made to last forever
there is a quality that is difficult to find  in things that are made today
That is why I have a passion for

Cottage

Hi Everyone
Happy Saturday

A Magazine publication  recently asked me
how I would describe  a
"Cottage"
 The dictionary
 describes a "cottage" as
"a small simple home typically near a beach or lake"

Cozy, simple, flower filled and full of
{Love}
are the words I use to describe
a cottage
How would you answer the question
Leave me a comment
The publication may use your description too

These  pink camellias floating in the front yard bird bath
look so calm and serene
I thought I would share them with you

Vintage White Ironstone

Hi Everyone
Happy Friday
{Love} White
Love to decorate with white, even to wear white
so it is no surprise that I love to collect
~White Ironstone~
Large or small
love the creamy color and the crazing
It is traditional, stylish and modern
I have Chamber pots, pitchers, cheese servers,
butter servers, butter pats, plates, tooth brush holders, sugar jars...
{there is even more ironstone in the cabinets}
some call this an obsession
My collection started when I was very young
My Mom took me to a
small antique store in La Jolla where
I found a vintage white pitcher for $3.99
I did not know at the time what it was worth
or even where it was made
But it started a passion for White Ironstone that continues to this day
I am grateful for the versatility of  White Ironstone
it goes with every decor
I have lived in several different houses, had a variety of
paint colors on the walls and White Ironstone has
fit in with all of them
I am drawn to White Ironstone like a bee to honey
Collecting  vintage treasures is so much fun
Last week Amanda  from Girl in Pink shared her new found treasures for
Vintage Treasure Chest Friday

Amanda had me laughing out loud be sure and visit her blog
you will love her humor and her beautiful pictures too
I enjoy hosting Vintage Treasure Chest Friday Thank You all for participating
due to the opening of my online store I will be making some major changes to my blog so I will not be able to host the linky party for the next few weeks
Thank You all for your fabulous support, friendship and prayers for my new adventure

Vintage White Piano Stool

  Hi Everyone
Happy Wednesday

White chippy ,weathered elegance
are the words I use to describe
this vintage piano stool

It is the most wonderful shape and size
Look at all of the curves and details

{Love}
  the clear glass claw feet

The seat is even adjustable
It has a old world charm and the feel
of a well loved treasure

Today when we were watering the
ferns in the living room
I grabbed the piano stool

It looks right at home
with all of the ferns
My daughter and I have been feverishly uploading pictures and writing descriptions

so exciting...
I hope you are all following your dreams

Design for less

Hi Everyone
Happy Tuesday

This is the reflection in our  dining room built in china cabinet
I have shown you this cabinet before what I did not tell you
is how I came up with a way to save money too
My little secret
I wanted to put a mirror on the back to help give the illusion  that the room is larger
and to bring the outside in
But the original cost estimate was over $500 for the mirror plus  installation?
Darn budget {very frustrating word}
So I decided to wait until later to get it done....

Three years later still waiting ...

Then shopping at Target
I had a wonderful {cheap} idea
I bought 5 of their least expensive wall mirrors
$7.99  each
removed the plastic frames and glued the mirrors
one by one together to the
back of the  china cabinet

~$40 dollars and fabulous~

It turned out better than I expected
You can see the pretty reflection
The room looks so much larger
 the mirrors
elongated the room and
gave it the depth that it needed

and I saved money too.
A design for less success

A Romantic Home

 Hi Everyone
Happy Weekend

It is always a must for a
~Romantic Home~
to have fresh flowers

  Surround yourself with beauty
These old cabbage roses are dreamy
and old world romantic
These gorgeous peonies are as fluffy
and light as a feather
 Tiny pink bud roses so
delicate and sweet
 One very small
Cecille Brunner rose that
makes the entire room smell like a rose garden
A large garden rose
sitting pretty

Delicate petals that
smell like heaven

A Romantic Home
is filled with Love, Laughter and Beauty
My Husband asked me last night why our home smells so great
sigh
I told him it was the roses from the garden He said, Oh I thought it was you...
